Over the last two years, four Regional Improvement Bodies (RIBs) have been supported by the Health Foundation to test the Measurement and Monitoring of Safety Framework(Vincent et al, 2013). Testing has taken place across the UK, in Scotland, Yorkshire, Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside, with the current second phase encompassing ever more varied care settings (Care homes, primary care, whole health economy.) As well as this we are trialling the framework in professional training.
This week, in partnership with the Health Foundation and wdid we are excited and proud to have released Measurement and monitoring of safety e-guide - Better questions safer care. Developed in collaboration with wdid, our experiences have been condensed into helpful case studies and templates to support you in learning more about the potential of the framework. The principles are broadly applicable and in the e-guide you will find examples – from Board to ward –in the following settings:
· Ambulance services
· Mental health
· Acute hospitals
· Primary care
· Board level
Click here to start exploring the e-guide.
However and wherever you want to use the framework, you will find something in the e-guide to help!
'I think it’s a fantastically rich and comprehensive set of resources that will hopefully benefit... the wider NHS.' Improvement Fellow, Health Foundation
If you want to learn more about the framework please attend one of our national events, where we will be exploring in more detail our learning from the framework, as well as providing you with the opportunity to plan how to start using it where you work.
